Back to PrEP; who should take it? Anyone with high risk sexual activity or persons who inject drugs and share equipment. What is high risk sexual activity? If you are have vaginal or anal sex AND any of the following:
–inconsistent or no condom use
–a history of sexually transmitted infections in the past six months
–a known HIV-positive partner.
Truvada, Descovy, and Apretude are the most commonly known PrEP medications. Not all medications can be used for every person and there are some medical conditions that limit use. Lab monitoring before and during medication use is necessary.
